Complete Refrigeration & Air was engaged by UGL Limited to replace failed DX plant equipment at the Pinjarra Alcoa Refinery. The DX plant system provided critical cooling to the onsite laboratory facility. Without adequate cooling, the lab environment could not safely support operational processing activities, making system restoration time-sensitive and essential.

The Problem

Access to the DX condenser location was limited.

Access to the DX plant evaporator was not possible and the system had to dismantled and rebuilt in situ

Custom built equipment was required for the foot print of the condenser available

Coordinated with Comm Air to design and manufacture custom-built equipment tailored to the site’s spatial constraints

Team used the technical manuals to dismantle and rebuild the evaporator as required

Engaged crane services to safely manoeuvre and position the DX condenser into its restricted location

Implemented comprehensive safety procedures in line with refinery standards, ensuring all works were completed without incident recorded

The DX plant equipment was installed safely and without incident

No defects were recorded upon completion

The system was fully commissioned and operational ahead of the scheduled completion date
